What should I expect when I visit the Church?

We want to make your visit as stress free as possible, so we have provided some answers to common questions…

What does a normal service look like?

A typical service at welcome is under 90mins in length. We begin with a welcome, followed by a period of sung worship, open prayer & thanksgiving. We then pause as we are led in intercessory prayer for our world, our country, our town, and our church family! Our prayer time is followed by sharing any news or notices with the church congregation about what’s coming up in the life of Welcome. We then open the bible and explore the richness of God’s Word, before closing the service with a final song.

After each service we enjoy a time of fellowship over refreshments, a great opportunity to get introduce ourselves, and get to know you a little better. During this time, we also have a private prayer area set up in the main church, with a dedicated team ready to pray with you, or for you, if you wish!

Teaching: Our preaching is primarily expository in approach, though we do focus on topics from time to time.

Bible translations: ESV, NIV

Is there a dress code?

Nope, everyone is welcome in whatever clothes they have on their backs when they walk through the door.

Will I have to join in?

There are no formal expectations to take part during the service, but we do encourage people to feel free to express their adoration to God through our worship time. If you want to raise your hands, dance, say a prayer, or share a short testimony then please do. And during the message, if you felt prompted by the truth of the words spoken, feel free to give God the glory via an ‘Amen’, or ‘Hallelujah’!

Do you collect money during the service?

No, we don’t take an offering during the service, but we do politely ask our congregation, to prayerfully consider giving to the work of the church on a regular basis. Simply put, without the financial support (and practical support) Welcome wouldn’t be able to keep running all the ministries & activities that it does.

What happens to the children and young people at church?

We are so blessed to have so many children & young people at Welcome. Most Sundays, we have our ‘Kids church’ & ‘Youth’ groups running upstairs, after our joint worship & prayer time. Through bible teaching appropriate to the age of the children in the group, activities and games we aim to support parents to introduce the children and youth to the joys, and richness of the Lord Jesus, and help them on their journey of discipleship. Below is an overview of the available classes and facilities….
